Homemade Probiotic Banana Berry Pupsicle Dog Ice Cream Recipe

Updated: Jan 27

Waggy Bites Functional Dog Treats are the ideal daily treat and supplement solution, allowing you to feel good about what you give your dog while addressing specific health issues.

However, there are times when your furry friend deserves pure indulgence. Unfortunately, many store-bought treats are filled with preservatives and chemicals.

Instead of buying store-bought treats, consider making these quick and delicious pupsicles at home.

Here’s a simple probiotic dog ice cream recipe to get you started!

Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe bananas, peeled and frozen

  • 1 cup plain, unsweetened yogurt (regular or Greek)

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter (xylitol-free)

  • ¼ cup unsweetened coconut milk (optional, makes it creamier)

Instructions:

  1. Cut the frozen bananas into chunks.

  2. Place the banana chunks, yogurt, and blueberries in a food processor or high-powered blender.

  3. Add the peanut butter and coconut milk (if using).

  4. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed. The mixture should be thick but blendable.

  5. If using honey, add it now and pulse to combine.

  6. Pour the mixture into:

    • Silicon ice cube trays for single-serve portions

    • A freezer-safe container for scooping

    • Small paper cups for individual servings

  7. Freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight until firm.

Serving Suggestions:

  • For ice cube portions: serve 1-2 cubes depending on dog size

  • For scooped servings: let soften for 5 minutes before serving

  • Can be served in a Kong toy for longer-lasting entertainment

Storage:

  • Keep frozen for up to 3 months

  • Once thawed, do not refreeze

Dog Ice Cream Recipe Notes:

  • This probiotic pupsicle recipe is grain free for sensitive dogs

  • Skip the honey for overweight dogs or those with diabetes

  • Start with small portions to ensure your dog tolerates dairy well

  • For dairy-sensitive dogs, replace yogurt with additional coconut milk

  • Add a tablespoon of ground flaxseed for extra omega-3 benefits
