Homemade Dog Cookies - Peanut Butter & Honey


Ingredients - Homemade Dog Cookies:

  • ½ cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 egg

  • 1 ripe banana, mashed

  • 1½ cups whole wheat flour

  • ¼ cup rolled oats


Ingredients - Dog-Safe Icing (Optional):

  • 2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter (xylitol-free)

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 3-4 tablespoons Greek yogurt (plain, unsweetened)


Instructions:


For Cookies:
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Mix peanut butter, honey, egg, and mashed banana until smooth.

  3. Add flour and oats, mixing until a dough forms.

  4. On floured surface, roll dough to ¼-inch thickness.

  5. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters.

  6. Place on prepared baking sheets.

  7. Bake 15-18 minutes until edges are lightly golden.

  8. Cool completely - treats will harden as they cool.


For Icing:
  1. Microwave peanut butter and honey for 15-20 seconds until softened.

  2. Stir in Greek yogurt until smooth.

  3. Add more yogurt if needed for desired consistency.

  4. Spread or pipe onto completely cooled treats.


Storage:

  • Un-iced homemade dog cookies at room temperature: 5 days

  • Iced treats in refrigerator: 3 days

  • Frozen (iced or un-iced): up to 3 months


Safety Tip:

  • Always check peanut butter contains no xylitol or artificial sweeteners
